The Wallace Stegner House is located in Eastend Saskatchewan, Canada. It was once home to one of North America’s most renowned Prairie writers, Wallace Stegner, who lived in this home from the age of 7 to 12. The house now serves as an artist’s/writers residence who come from all over the world.
Eastend Saskatchewan is located at the foot of the Cypress hills in the Grasslands region of Canada. I was privileged to be awarded residence at this house for the month of June 2015. During my stay at this beautiful home I was able to work on enhancing my plein air painting skills as I was out in the native Grassland landscapes painting on site just about every day of my stay. I was also working on new work for my Grassland Series as well as gathering reference material for future work to this ever growing series devoted to the Grasslands natural region of Canada.
My stay at the Stegner House will now remain a fine memory of mine for the rest of my life; the people, places, and peace that I found during my stay have had a positive impact on me as well as my work. I thank the Eastend Arts Council for selecting me to be their artist in residence for the month of June 2015.
